DAK LOOKING TO WISE UP TO RODGERS

- BY KEITH WEBSTER

DAK PRESCOTT watched in awe nine months ago as the master taught the pupil a lesson in never giving up.

Tonight, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback is determined to prove he is another year wiser when he plays against opposite number Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers once more (Sky Sports Action, 9pm).

Rodgers pulled a rabbit from a hat in Dallas in January, one of those seemingly-impossible escapes from trouble before launching a pass downfield to put the Packers in position to kick a 51-yard field goal with no time left.

That last-gasp win ended Dallas’s season on a bitter note, leaving unfinished business that will be addressed tonight.

Prescott said: “It’s definitely in our heads. They knocked us out of the playoffs last year, so we’re going back, I wouldn’t necessarily say for revenge, but to go get a win, to show them what we’re capable of doing.

“We’re excited for it. It’s a good matchup.”

Rodgers is Green Bay’s talisman, regularly producing moments of magic to win games. Prescott knows just how good Rodgers is but understands it is time to stop admiring him and to start finding a way to beat him.

He said: “Aaron Rodgers is somebody who it’s hard to say I need to go in there and have better stats than he does.

“We know how powerful that offence is so for us it’s about worrying what we can do on our side of the ball and making it tough on their offence and making them play from behind, making it one-sided.

“It’s important for us to get ahead and to start scoring early to put pressure on them.

“But stats-wise, Aaron Rodgers is Aaron Rodgers.”
