Eddie dumped America’s Got Talent star Mel in 2006, when she was six months pregnant with Angel, reportedly because she had been “badmouthing” Lilian.
He originally denied Angel was his daughter before a DNA test proved that he was the daddy.
Relations between Mel and the actor started to thaw in August when it emerged Eddie was supporting the singer’s bid to stop her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte, 42, seeing Angel. My source says: “Relations with Mel and Eddie have improved considerably, they are on good terms.
“Mel’s divorce with Stephen has brought her closer to Eddie, who just wants to help as much as he can.”
Eddie, who has nine children, is said to be determined Belafonte will have nothing to do with Angel and he plans to support Say You’ll Be There singer Mel’s battle to stop the visitation rights.
But sources close to Belafonte say he is determined to see Angel, who he says he “raised like she was his own”.
Mel, who accused Belafonte of domestic abuse, has started to put her acrimonious divorce behind her, healed the rift with her family and is now set to tour the world with the Spices. Not a bad start to the year, Mel. Respect.
