Sam is Matt’s muse

He says Sex And The City siren taught him all about women

-

HE’S a short, spiky-haired music boff from Cambridge who has managed to pull some of the world’s most beautiful women.

Now Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has revealed that the key to his success with the ladies is due to watching hit US TV series Sex And The City.

I caught up with him at the NME Awards where he wondered if I was the British version of the show’s protagonist Carrie Bradshaw – a sex columnist played by Sarah Jessica Parker, 52. He was disappointed to learn that I just dish out the showbiz goss before confiding that the show is one of his all-time favourites.

Matt, 39, says: “I learned everything I know about women from that show. I watched the whole thing. Every episode. My favourite was Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha. That’s my kind of lady.” Sauce-pot Samantha had a penchant for, er, lots of sex. Matt – whose 2001 record Plug In Baby is about a sex toy – has dated a string of blonde lookalikes, including Goldie Hawn’s daughter Kate Hudson, 38, with whom he has a six-year-old son, Bing. He is now engaged to American model Elle Evans, 28. The singer – who joked that the band’s new single Thought Contagion “is all about Kim Cattrall” following her public outburst at Sarah Jessica for “exploiting” a family tragedy – says: “Maybe we should take all our feuds online like that. It would do wonders for the band.” Muse picked up an NME gong for Best Festival Headliner. Maybe next year they’ll get a nom for their bedroom antics...
