I’m sorry to anybody who loved that movie. “I couldn’t give that kind of time. It was three minutes and I was just oof.” Speaking to a comedian’s podcast WTF With Marc Maron, the actress said she was mystified by the Paul Thomas Anderson movie. Trying to work out the attraction of Day-lewis’ character Reynolds Woodcock, she added: “Is it just about clothes? Is he kind of like a narcissistic sociopath and he’s an artist so every girl falls in love with him because he makes her feel bad about herself and that’s the love story? “I haven’t seen it, so I don’t know. I’ve been down that road, I know what that’s like – I don’t need to watch that movie.” The actress insisted she was not talking about former boyfriend Darren Aronofsky, the director of the movie Mother! in which she starred and from whom she recently split. Phantom Thread, supposedly 60-year-old Day-lewis’ last film before retiring, is up for six Oscars tonight, including one for him as best actor along with best film and best director. news@irishmirror.ie
