It’d be really nice to meet someone but I just haven’t got the time ...sorry guys!

Alannah, 24, too busy for finding romance

SHE’S been impressing the nation with her moves and now Dancing With The Stars’ Alannah Beirne has admitted she is not on a mission to find love again – until the show wraps.

The former Britain’s Next Top Model contestant is one of six remaining hopefuls on the hit RTE show.

Alannah is set to take on the samba tonight with dancer Vitali Kozmin and she will battle it out against comedian Deirdre O’kane, Olympic walker Rob Heffernan, fitness model Erin Mcgregor, GAA star Anna Geary and singer Jake Carter.

Referring to potential partners, Alannah, who recently split from her boyfriend, told the Irish Mirror: “I have barely been able to message everyone back – I’ve just been messaging all the girls back.

“Look sure after the show I’ll have a lot of free time so you never know, it would be nice to meet someone, but I literally have had no time.”

The dancers and celebrities were holed up in Dublin’s Gibson Hotel this week as Storm Emma and the Beast from the East wreaked havoc – and there were fears tonight’s show may be cancelled. Alannah revealed: “We’ve all been on lockdown, we’ve been nervous and scared.

“None of us knew what was going to happen and we were worried about whether or not we’d be able to get out to Bray for the show too.”

The 24-year old Kildare woman told how the gruelling dance schedule is having an impact on her with no day off since Christmas.

She added: “It’s completely taking over. I spend morning, noon and night rehearsing, it takes a toll on your body physically and mentally.

“I’m completely exhausted but you kind of get the rush. You want to do well and you’re determined to keep going.

“Last week I was so tired and the Quick Step was very jumpy and my body was saying, ‘Please, Alannah, stop.

“None of us are used to all this dancing and hard work every day – I haven’t had a day off since Christmas.”

The model said despite sustaining a rib injury she’s powering through. She added: “My back and legs and everything is sore but my ribs are OK. In certain moves I feel a sharp pain every once and a while.”

With the show being all-consuming, the star is worried what life will be like when it’s all over.

She admitted: “The highs and lows you get, especially at the weekend, are unreal. At night you’re thinking of all the steps. People were asking me what I’m planning on doing after the show, but I’m so focused on the dancing. “I’d say the anti-climax after Dancing With The Stars will be similar to when I finished Britain’s Next Top Model – we had chaperones taking us everywhere, getting us whatever we needed.” Alannah is in shock she’s got to week nine on the popular show and credits her late grandad for giving her rhythm.

She explained: “I never thought I’d be this long in the contest.

“I’m not a great dancer, I just thought it would be a bit of craic and now it’s week nine so I’m thrilled.

“My grandad was a fantastic ballroom dancer from Tipperary, the very first waltz I did was for him.

“He won loads of contests with my nanny and was really well known around the county – the women would throw themselves at him. My nanny came to see my first dance and brought grandad’s handkerchief for good luck.”

Musical talent runs on both sides of her family with her grandad from Longford imparting a love of traditional music to the next generation.

She added: “He played the accordion and encouraged all my family to play Irish music.

“My brother Tadgh plays the accordion, I play tin whistle, and the rest of my siblings play fiddle, so we have a little Ceili band every time we have a family

I’ve not been able to message people back, just the girls. But you never know after the show

get-together. Maybe it’s a musicality thing that I’m picking up the dancing, I’m really falling in love with it.”

With Tadgh soaring to great heights in professional rugby the pair have made their parents proud.

Alannah said: “He was nominated as best player for the Scarlets in Wales and since going there he’s really blossomed – now Munster want to sign him and playing for Ireland is his main goal. We went on the Ray D’arcy show together and it was really nice because it was the first time our parents got to hear us talking about our professions – Tadgh with his rugby and me with the modelling and now dancing. “The two of us are very relaxed when it comes to being in the limelight, before I’d be really panicky about interviews. But it’s great, we’re both really privileged to be doing what we love.”
