Ross blasted for college’s funds tweet
SHANE Ross has come under fire for a tweet which congratulated a private school on receiving funding under a Government programme.
The Sports Minister sent the good wishes to Wesley College, which received €150,000 that will go towards re-surfacing the school’s hockey pitch.
Fees at the Ballinteer school start at €6,250 per academic year.
An aim of the sports capital scheme is to “prioritise the needs of disadvantaged areas in the provision of sports facilities”.
A follower replied: “What a disgrace! Throwing money at private schools for a pitch that’s rented out for profit. Whilst sports clubs live out of portacabins.”
