Talk TV Anna stars in an arresting drama
Edgar Ramirez as Gianni Versace
One show that has managed to do that is the hit programme Marcella.
The ITV series returned to our screens a few weeks ago and it hasn’t disappointed.
It’s normally hard for a show to have a good follow-up but Marcella is far better so far than series one.
The British crime drama features the talented Anna Friel as Det Sgt Marcella Backland who has returned to the force after a 12-year break.
Her performance centres around her character trying to solve a paedophile ring and murder and juggle a dysfunctional family life.
This series has been action-packed so far with twists and turns coming thick and fast.
The first season saw a serial killer seemingly become active 11 years after his last murder.
This time around Marcella is investigating the discovery of a body found bricked-up inside a wall, dressed in a school blazer and surrounded by soft toys.
She works out the victim is a boy called Leo Priestley, a friend of her son who was abducted a few years earlier.
It’s back tomorrow night on ITV at 9pm with the fourth instalment of the show.
If you haven’t managed to catch any episodes the first series can also be caught on Netflix.
Another detective show that is set to return to our screens
Cop has complicated life is Death in Paradise. Irish actor and comedian Ardal O’hanlon plays DI Jack Mooney in the seventh series of the programme that returns to BBC1 on Thursday at 9pm. The detective arrived from London to the idyllic island of Saint Marie at the end of series six and immediately began solving murder cases in his own unusual style.
He will return this time around though as the star of the show, which has been given rave reviews in the past.
Another must-watch series that is set to kick off soon is The Assassination of Gianni Versace, a nine-part drama Torvil and Dean Anna Friel as DS Marcella Backland which delves into the fashion mogul’s murder.
The series is the follow-up to American Crime Story: The People vs OJ Simpson which was hugely successful.
The Assassination of Gianni Versace is inspired by Vanity Fair journalist Maureen Orth’s book Vulgar Favours and airs on Wednesday on BBC2 at 9pm.
