RIVALRY BIGGEST OF THEM ALL SAYS RODGERS

-

BRENDAN RODGERS agrees with Graeme Souness that the Old Firm derby is the biggest in the world.

The former Rangers boss reiterated his belief that Glasgow clashes can’t be beaten in terms of passion and atmosphere. And despite being part of the Merseyside equivalent as Liverpool gaffer, as well as white-hot games against Manchester United, Rodgers (left) insists Souey is right.

Rodgers said: “There’s no doubt that it’s the biggest game out there. When I think back to Swansea City v Cardiff City when I was there, that’s a real rivalry. Then I was part of Liverpool v Man United and Liverpool v Everton, big games.

“But there’s a difference with this one. It’s historical, political, football, you name it – it’s all in there. And there’s that extra sense of knowing what it means.

“They are wonderful occasions. They’re not always the best games but thankfully for us in the majority of them we’ve got a result.”
