Wife killer O’reilly unearths job as prison gardener

O’reilly, who had become the head chef at his old prison, now spends his days maintaining the prison grounds.
A source told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “He likes to keep busy and that hasn’t changed since to he was transferred to Wheatfield.
“He used to spend all day in the prison kitchen at Arbour Hill cooking up dinners and meals for the other inmates. He was an exceptional cook and staff and fellow prisoners were sad to see him leave his post.
“When he was moved to Wheatfield in March he initially just sat in his cell and didn’t do much.
“However, he has been given a gardening job now and spends his time cutting the grass, planting flowers and looking after the general maintenance of the jail grounds.

prisoner and keeps his head down and is never in trouble. “The way he probably looks at the new job is that it keeps him busy and makes his days locked up go quicker. “He loves sports, watching and playing them. He’s known as the badminton king in prison.” O’reilly lost an appeal against his conviction in 2016 and an application to have it declared a miscarriage of justice was dismissed as an “abuse of process”. news@irishmirror.ie
