Air accident ‘caused by cockpit fire’

-

THE crash of Egyptair flight MS804 in 2016 was probably caused by a fire in the cockpit, French investigators have claimed.

The country’s civil aviation accident bureau said recorders suggested the blaze had spread rapidly through the plane.

The findings contradict Egypt’s earlier statements explosives had been found on victims, suggesting the aircraft had been bombed.

All 66 passengers and crew died when the flight from Paris to Cairo came down over the Mediterranean.

The bureau stated “the most likely hypothesis is that a fire broke out in the cockpit”.
