Mums moan after formula ‘milk change sickens tots’

- BY JOHN KELLY

PARENTS claim a change to the recipe of popular Aptamil formula milk is making their babies ill.

They say they have been sick, unsettled or suffering diarrhoea since makers Danone UK changed its First Infant milk powder.

The company, slammed for cutting pack sizes from 900g to 800g while keeping the same cost – says most parents have not noticed a difference.

But Sarah Foster, 35, of Manchester, says eightweek-old son Tobi became ill when she bought the new tub four days ago.

She added: “As soon as it hit his tummy it was back up. It was then I noticed it didn’t mix the same.”

One Facebook post about the change earlier this week has received 200 messages from people with similar issues.

Danone confirmed Aptamil, stages 1 to 4, all have “a new formulation”.

But a spokeswoman added: “Our experience is that changes such as being unsettled or differences in stools are normally temporary and will settle. We recommend parents double-check instructions.”
