Elaine Crowley Clarkson with former Home and Away star Eliza Scanlen in the role of her rebellious half-sister Amma.

Chris Messina stars as detective Richard Willis, with Elizabeth Perkins, Madison Davenport and Matt Craven also featuring. The Amy Adams & Chris Messina story centres around the crime reporter who has just been discharged from a psychiatric hospital.

It forces her to confront personal demons as she looks to reconnect with her estranged family.

The story is told in flashes and flashbacks – including dead people popping into empty mirrors.

Camille lost a sister growing up in Wind Gap and has few if any fond memories of her childhood.

Now a hard-drinking journalist, the return to her home town and coming face to face with her antagonistic mother almost tips her over the edge. It’s Adams’ first TV role since moving into films a decade ago and in many ways it’s the most challenging of her career.

The transformation to get into the role required her to stand for up to four hours in prosthetics each day to create Camille’s scars. She admits playing such a damaged character was a big ask, adding: “I don’t have the same darkness and depth of internal anger, but that sort of sadness that drives you to be unkind to yourself, I think I have that. “I don’t feel any sense of pride or accomplishment if I’m not being pushed, so I’m interested in anything that will push me.

“I may succeed, I may fail, but I’ll try anything.”
