‘KEV CAN RESCUE RHINOS’

- BY GARETH WALKER

JAMIE PEACOCK insists former Leeds Rhinos team-mate Kevin Sinfield is the right man to steer the troubled champions away from relegation danger.

Leeds appointed Sinfield (right) as director of rugby on Friday after seven straight defeats led to the sacking of Brian Mcdermott.

Sinfield is responsible for all first-team matters, with James Lowes as his first team coach, and starts his reign at Castleford today. Peacock (right) said: “They have the right person in charge now. Kevin will be exactly the same as when he played – preparation is key. “He will only have had two days with the players before his first game but you can still have an impact on attitude and enthusiasm. “Cas will want to stick the boot in while Rhinos are down. But it isn’t about just what happens today. “We were team-mates for many years, but with me being head of rugby at Hull KR that’s both of us going for a top-eight place. The way it’s shaping up only one of us might get in – and the other miss out.” Passionate about Super League
