THE MONK LINED UP AS SUPERGRASS

Kinahans fear Gerry Hutch turning State witness from his Turkish hideaway

- BY NIALL O’CONNOR

GERRY “The Monk” Hutch could destroy the Kinahans if he turns supergrass, senior gardai believe.

The Kinahan gang are paranoid Hutch, below, could become a State witness in the bloody feud that started in 2015.

Hutch, 55, is in hiding in Turkey and might be tempted for the right offer.

A source said: “He has so much dirt on the Kinahans.”

THE paranoid Kinahan cartel are worried Gerry “The Monk” Hutch will turn supergrass and help bring down their gang, gardai believe.

At present The Monk is thought to be in Turkey but senior sources have told the Irish Sunday Mirror he could “turn Turk” and take his ultimate revenge against the crime gang.

It is believed that could be the offer on the table for the one-time master crook.

A source said: “The work done by investigators since the Regency Hotel atrocity has generated hundred of pieces of evidence against the Hutch gang.

“The issue for Gerry Hutch is that he will ultimately be lifted in relation to his side of the feud.

“It has been said that since all sides of this feud were once together, the Kinahans are worried he could turn State’s witness on the lot of them – he has nothing to lose.

“He has so much dirt on the Kinahans that if he spoke now he could close them down much more effectively than a bullet.”

As revealed by the Irish Sunday Mirror in an interview with Assistant Commissioner John O’driscoll, gardai are working the international angle to target the gangs.

The gardai have vowed to track down every organised criminal using the cover of faraway countries to hide from justice in Ireland.

A source added: “At the moment the Kinahan leaders are in Dubai and it is believed that The Monk is in Turkey. These are two places where it is difficult to bring these people back but there is more than one way to get to them. “Gardai have been in touch with authorities in both countries. “The chance is always there that they may be deported and it is all about using diplomacy to keep in touch with local law enforcement.” Sources have rubbished the theory that these people are clever operators. A security source, who has met the main players, added: “There is this nonsense that these people are in some way geniuses. “Maybe in the broader pool of criminals they are clever but that isn’t hard. The fact is they are not shrewd operators and they will be caught – they are onetrick ponies who have been very lucky but the State is coming for them.” One of the features of the fight against the gang is the effort made by the Criminal Assets Bureau.

A source said: “Their assets here are being stripped, gang by gang member, but they are storing a lot off shore.

“The Monk has property in various places – it is believed he has property in Ghent in Belgium, Florida and Turkey.

“The jurisdictions this man has property in may not have the same laws as Ireland for taking them away but there are other methods to hit them and that is where the focus is at the moment.”

GANGLAND SOURCE ON THE CRIMINALS

THE Kinahan cartel are reeling from recent garda strikes – and now fear Gerry “The Monk” Hutch could take them down without firing a shot.

Senior gardai revealed the organisation are paranoid the 55-year-old could turn State witness and bring their empire crashing down.

The gangs were once close and Hutch knows how “Dapper Don” Christy Kinahan runs his billion-euro operation.

But now he is on the run for his life, and if the right offer is on the table, sources say Hutch might take revenge on the Kinahans for slaughtering his brother.

The Monk has a habit of causing chaos.
