FAT FREDDIE'S COCAINE FUELLED BLOODLUST

Gardai reveal jailed killer is a psychopath who enjoys killing

- BY SYLVIA POWNALL

JAILED “Fat Freddie” Thompson is a psychopath with a bloodlust fuelled by cocaine, a Garda source said yesterday.

The evil thug, 37, was hired by the Kinahan Cartel to organise hits on the Hutch gang and was jailed for life for the murder of David “Daithi” Douglas. He is also the main suspect in the killing of Gary Bryan in the Crumlin-drimnagh feud. A source said: “At the murder scenes he laughed like the psycho he is. He enjoys it all.”

CAGED killer “Fat Freddie” Thomspon is suspected of whacking rival gangster Gary Bryan at the height of the Crumlin-drimnagh feud.

The trigger-happy psycho was jailed for life on Thursday for his part in David “Daithi” Douglas’ murder – but gardai believe he’s behind at least 14 killings.

Slain gangster Bryan was shot in front of his girlfriend as he fixed a car on Bunting Road in the Walkinstown area on September 26, 2006.

He took six bullets to the head from a handgun and the assassin stood over him and pumped several more into his prone body.

Douglas, 54, was also shot six times in the head – with the gunman emptying the chamber into his victim in 2016.

A source said: “Both killings have the same MO [modus operandi] and Fat Freddie was in the frame for Bryan’s murder from the off.

“He was seen smirking and laughing in the area shortly after Bryan was killed. That is what he is known for.”

Bryan was an armed robber and hitman-for-hire who worked for the Brian “King Rat” Rattigan drugs gang.

Bryan was the chief suspect for murdering rival gang members Paul Warren and Wayne Zambra.

Thomspon was on the opposite side of the titfor-tat feud which was sparked by the murder of Declan Gavin outside a chipper in Crumlin.

He is also suspected of “active involvement” in the murder of Joseph Rattigan, 18, who was shot dead in Drimnagh in July 2002.

Bryan’s killer and an accomplice cheered as they fled in a stolen vehicle. The source said: “There were four cars spotted in the Daithi Douglas case and he [Thomspon] was in one of them.

“Freddie was always in on the action. He either orchestrated the hit or was an active participant.

“That is his MO and has been for over 15 years. Bryan was killed as part of the historic Crumlin-drimnagh feud which left 16 young men dead, but he was no angel himself.

“That shooting was the closest gardai came to nailing Thompson for murder, until now.

“They had hard evidence placing him in the car but because it was going to the Central Criminal Court the DPP [Director of Prosecutions] feared Fat Freddie would nobble the jury.”

Sources said Thompson was a violent psychopath fuelled by cocaine.

One added: “Freddie loves the whole killing thing. Organising the cars, guns, shooters – that was his job for nearly 20 years, and he was always in the vicinity of the murders.”

Vicious mobster Thomspon, 37, was this week handed the mandatory life sentence after his murder conviction in the non-jury Special Criminal Court.

The assassin’s thirst for shedding blood was harnessed by the Kinahan cartel when its bosses saw how many hits he clocked up without getting caught.

The source said: “That’s the reason he graduated to the Kinahan-hutch feud which has killed 18 people.

“The Kinahans took him on because the other feud had burned out and they saw how good he was at organising hits. Gardai reckon he’s involved in at least 14 murders. Cars, guns, hitmen, he did the lot.”
