Boy, 16, held after woman seriously hurt in ‘hit-&-run’

GARDAI have arrested a teenager after a hit-andrun which left a woman in hospital.

The incident occurred on Canal Bridge, Osberstown, Co Kildare, on Friday when a car crashed into a parked vehicle which then collided with a woman.

The 51-year-old pedestrian is in a serious condition after the incident at around 8.25pm.

Gardai said the car failed to stop after the collision, and they have since arrested a 16-year-old.

A spokesman added: “Gardai are investigat­ing a serious hit-and-run road traffic collision that occurred at Osberstown, Naas on November 2.

“The collision occurred on Canal Bridge, Osberstown, at approximat­ely 8.25pm. A car collided with a parked car and then collided with a female pedestrian.

“The car failed to stop after the collision. The female pedestrian is in serious condition at Tallaght Hospital.

“An abandoned car has been seized for a technical examinatio­n.

“A male was arrested earlier this morning and is being detained at Naas Garda station

“The road was closed for a period of time to facilitate a forensic collision examinatio­n but has since reopened.”
