the first time around there’s a chance to see it all again as Virgin Media Two are airing the iconic drama from the beginning. Episode one shows Fr Peter Clifford (Stephen Tomkinson) arriving in the remote Irish village after being transferred from Manchester. The first person he meets is pub landlady Assumpta Fitzgerald (Dervla Kirwan, both above), who hints he might be in for a frosty reception. As he tries to get to grips with his parishioners’ quirks it’s interesting to see how Enniskerry and Avoca in Co Wicklow, where the drama was filmed, have changed since the show was shot in the 90s.

Ballykissangel is on Virgin Media Two today at 4pm. Corrie’s Amy Barlow is a chip off the old block and no mistake. Just as Tracy and Steve are getting over the honeymoon revenge, she tells them she doesn’t want them to get back together. Tracy tells a seriously sunburned Steve that without their daughter’s blessing they can’t reunite. So Amy sets out a legal contract of terms for them to sign before they move forward. The hilarious episode airs on Friday.
