DEFINITLY BETTER

-

DEFINITLY RED bettered his third of 2017 by two places to lift the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby.

Despite attracting just four runners, the threemile test had its share of drama, with Double Shuffle departing at the first fence and 5-4 favourite Black Corton nearly unseating Bryony Frost with an error at the third.

Frost performed heroics to stay aboard, but Black Corton was unable to reel in Definitly Red and Danny Cook (below), who had two lengths to spare at the winning post. “He’s some horse,” said Brian Ellison, speaking from Churchill Downs after saddling The Mackem Bullet to sixth place in the Juvenile Fillies’ Turf on Friday. “He loves jumping fences and always tries his heart out. His work was good and we knew we had him right.”
