MOUNTNEY’S ON A MISSION

- BY PAUL O’HEHIR

JOHN MOUNTNEY believes Dundalk are ready for take-off regardless of what happens at the Aviva today.

The Lilywhites ace wants to maintain the winning feeling around the club by clinching a second double in four seasons. And, backed by their new American owners, the joint-longest serving player is convinced they can re-establish themselves as the dominant force.

Mountney (right) said: “A couple of years ago when Andy Connolly and Paul Brown took over, they were great for us.

“We got into Europe and now with the Americans, I think it can go again. The ambitions Stephen Kenny sets for us are always high.

“About 95% of our squad is in contract for next year and that puts out a big statement.

“Our ambitions after the FAI Cup final will be on next year but we want to keep winning things and put the foot down and stay going.”
