FOXES WIN IT FOR THE BOSS

-

was the reason I was on that pitch today and everyone’s happy we got that win for him.”

Srivaddhanaprabha’s name was sung from first whistle to last by the 3,000 travelling fans who unfurled banners and flags celebrating the life of the man referred to as ‘The Boss’.

Gray added: “He changed my life. Vichai changed everyone’s life in the dressing room.

“Even the fans who live and die for the club. We owed him. All to him.

“He cared about us as players. That’s why we are such a tight-knit group and we have a family feeling. That’s why it has had such a big effect on us.

“He got such respect because of the man he was. You don’t hear about owners being as involved as he was.

“That’s why it was hard to focus before the game. Pretty much every Saturday he would come in before the game and wish us well.

“He was always smiling – every time I saw him. That’s what makes it so difficult.” Leicester skipper Kasper Schmeichel added his voice to the tribute, saying: “I feel proud. It’s been a really tough week for everyone.

“This has been a testament to the family that Vichai built.

“It’s taken a lot. I’m so proud of how everyone played, how professional they were.

“Because you come across very few people in your life who hit you in there and have an impact on you. He had a really big impact on my life.

“You can see from the reaction that he had such a big impact on so many lives. He was a man we are immensely proud to have known.

“We are thinking about his family. We are all hurting but you cannot imagine what they are going through.”

Leicester’s players flew out on a private jet from Cardiff airport immediately after the final whistle and will stay in Bangkok until midweek as Thailand observes seven days of mourning for the billionaire.

Schmeichel added: “The chance to attend his funeral was offered to us and we jumped at that. Every single player wanted to get out there.

“We’re glad to come away from a really difficult game with a win that we can take to Thailand. I hope we did his family proud.”
