SENSATIONAL Stacey Dooley danced her way to victory last night lifting the glorious Glitterball trophy in the 16th series of Strictly Come Dancing – as the viewers ignored the judges and chose their favourite.

Despite the lowest scores on the night she beat Joe Sugg, Faye Tozer and Ashley Roberts to be crowned Strictly champion with partner Kevin Clifton.

He finally won a series after making it to four previous finals.

Stacey screamed with delight, and grabbed a tearful Kevin who dropped to his knees in front of the Glitterball and cried: “It’s a Christmas miracle!”

Stacey said to Kevin: “You know how highly I think of you. You are the biggest gem. It’s no coincidence you have been in the final as may times as you have. “You so deserve this.”

The last four couples had to learn three dances in one week for the final – a judges’ choice, a show dance and their own favourite.

Ashley and Pasha and Faye and Giovanni scored three perfect 40s for their routines, and were joint first on 120 points after the judges had given their scores.

Joe was in second place on 116 points and Stacey had 114.

But it was down to the viewers not the judges – and they voted Stacey their winner.

Don’t miss the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special on BBC1 at 5.30pm on Christmas Day.
