Wolves had started like a train with the impressive Ruben Neves bringing out a brilliant fingertip save from Kasper Schmeichel after just three minutes.

A minute later Jota volleyed in to give Wolves the lead and 10 minutes later Ryan Bennett got above Harry Maguire to head home a second.

Both sides had great chances before the interval though the pick of them all fell to Jota who headed straight at Schmeichel right on half-time.

Credit to Leicester, they came out all guns blazing after the break and within two minutes of the re-start pulled one back through Demarai Gray.

They were level within minutes when a Harvey Barnes shot deflected in off Conor Coady, but not for long – Jota racing onto a sublime 50-yard Neves pass and drilling it in.

The hat-trick hero said: “We practise in training and we know Ruben’s ability for long passes.

“We believe the ball will be there, and just run and try to get the final touch.”

When Wes Morgan headed the Foxes level again on 87 minutes, it looked enough, but Wolves – and Jota – had other ideas.

A clearly dismayed Leicester boss Claude Puel (above) said: “We were naive in our goals and our management at the end of

the game.” of
