Record breaker Ole on charge.. but Kop lead is Crystal clear

- BY PAUL NICHOLL

LIVERPOOL and Manchester United were both celebrating a magnificent seven yesterday. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds nicked a sevengoal thriller against Crystal Palace to go seven points clear at the top of the Premier League. And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won a record seventh consecutive game in charge of United. Liverpool were rescued by Mo Salah, whose double took him to 50 Premier League goals in 72 games in English football. Klopp last night said: “It’s an exceptional achievement

from a world-class player. I heard the numbers of the players who did it a bit quicker – Alan Shearer, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Andy Cole. Maybe he would have scored more had I not played him on the right wing.”

Salah said: “It’s great to score 50 goals, but now I’m looking forward to 50 in the league with Liverpool because two of those were for Chelsea.”

He could have a rival in the striking stakes with Solskjaer describing Marcus Rashford as the best forward in the Premier League.

Rashford’s brilliant individual effort – his fifth in seven games on his 150th United appearance – was enough to secure a 2-1 win over Brighton.

Solskjaer said: “You could argue for many strikers being the best, but I am so glad Marcus is in my team.

“Harry Kane is injured, so maybe Marcus is the best at the moment.

“No one beats him for work rate and no one beats him for attitude and finishing.”
