Chest get on with it!

IGT judge Michelle hits back at criticism over her revealing dresses

- BY SYLVIA POWNALL

MICHELLE Visage has said she won’t change her dress style on this year’s Ireland’s Got Talent declaring: “I don’t tone down anything for anybody.”

The outspoken TV judge is back on our screens next Saturday for a second series of the show with fellow panellists Denise Van Outen, Jason Byrne and Louis Walsh.

And she hit out at critics, including Amanda Brunker, who said the red dress with a plunging neckline she wore for last year’s final revealed too much cleavage.

Singer Michelle told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “Will I be toning it down? No, I don’t tone down anything for anybody. We need to celebrate our bodies.

“I’m the mother of two children, those breasts fed those two children. My nipples weren’t hanging out for God’s sake. Women need to celebrate each other.

“Why would you body-shame another woman? It was absolutely ridiculous, telling someone with large breasts they cannot wear a low-cut dress.

“I don’t change for anybody. Come on this is 2019, this is not 1952.”

TALENT

Michelle, who is also a judge on Rupaul’s Drag Race in the US, said there was a greater mix of people applying for this year’s show.

She added: “It’s been unbelievable. There is such a great crop of talent in this damn country.

“I think a lot of people were waiting to see how the first series went.

“When they realised it was such a hit they all decided to apply this time round. I love to be taken by surprise, I like the crazy stuff.”

Michelle turned 50 last September and revealed she found it liberating.

She said: “I’ve no problem with it. Life is beautiful. When you’re this age anything can happen. You just need to embrace it all with open arms.”

Currently based in London, she is rumoured to be part of the judging panel on the UK version of Drag Race which starts on BBC Three later this year.

In the meantime, she’s just finished a successful run playing Mrs Hedge in the uplifting LGBTQ musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in the West End.

Michelle had to master a Sheffield accent for her role in the show about a 16-year-old boy who is banned from the school prom because he wants to go in drag.

She revealed: “It’s been the most exciting and scary four months of my life, but it’s been amazing. I can’t do an Irish accent, but I’m pretty good at deciphering them.

“I love all the different dialects here, I think the Cork accent is gorgeous.”

Ireland’s Got Talent series two starts on Virgin Media One next Saturday at 7.30pm.

The Ireland’s Got Talent judge hit back at those who body shame women.

Don’t let them get under your skin, Michelle.
