I’m a Wright old dad
Baby girl joy for talk show host Matthew, 53, after 8yr IVF battle
FORMER telly host Matthew Wright and his wife Amelia have finally had a little girl after years of heartbreak.
Cassady Frances Wright was born on Friday night after Amelia suffered six miscarriages and went through eight years of IVF treatment.
Hours before the birth, an excited Matthew tweeted: “Just received the following: Ok we are having a baby this evening or basically As soon as you get here. you will be taken to the labour ward and given blue pyjamas to wear. Xx” @mrsameliawright THIS IS HAPPENING!!”
Former Mirror journalist Matthew, 53, previously described this pregnancy as a “last chance saloon” after earlier revealing that Sony music executive Amelia, 42, fell pregnant naturally with twins in 2009, but suffered a miscarriage and life-threatening ectopic pregnancy.
Speaking before Cassady’s birth, he said: “We’ve waited a long time for this moment.
“Every day we keep pinching ourselves because we can hardly believe it’s finally happening.” He is now planning to be a stay-at-home dad after quitting his popular Channel Five morning chat show The Wright Stuff.
He said: “I’ve only ever held two babies in my entire life. Now I can envisage becoming the primary carer when Amelia returns to work.”
Matthew, who has a weekday afternoon show on TALKRADIO, appeared on ITV’S This Morning last week revealing how Amelia’s IVF troubles had led to his decision to leave TV.
