TIME FOR BIT OF DREAMIN’

Follow Chris and Henry

- BY RYAN MCELLIGOTT

THE promising Chris’s Dream can land this afternoon’s featured Naas Business Club Novice Chase.

A good field has turned out for this Grade 3 prize and easily one of the most exciting prospects on show is Henry de Bromhead’s charge.

He got his chasing career off to a bright start when winning a useful looking beginners’ chase at Navan last month.

Both the second and third from that race have since won and Chris’s Dream can be expected to improve for his first run since March.

In addition the selection should relish stepping up to three miles. It was over this trip that he won a Grade 3 novice hurdle by 64 lengths last season.

A case could be made for a number of the other runners and they include Discorama who won on his first outing over fences at this track in November.

The first of the day’s graded races sees Espoir D’allen bidding to make it three wins in succession in the Limestone Lad Hurdle.

This Gavin Cromwell inmate won nicely at this track a couple of months ago but he was even better at Limerick last month. On that occasion Espoir D’allen trounced the very useful Stormy Ireland and he is looking like a horse that could be worth his place at the highest level.

The five-year-old does have a Champion Hurdle entry and if he is to justify that engagement he should be up to beating these.

Tombstone ran very well to finish third to Sharjah at Leopardstown several weeks ago and he should take second with a repeat of that last run.

In the opener the vote goes to Noel Meade’s Lignou who might benefit from the application of first time blinkers.

This gelding ran no race on his Irish debut but his fourth to Gardens Of Babylon at Punchestown last time was much more encouraging.

In the second of the maiden hurdles Envious Editor looks a strong contender as he attempts to build on a second to the useful Eclair De Beaufeu at Limerick over Christmas.

Geneva Barracks showed up well on his first run for a year when he was fourth to Chatham Street Lad at Cork last month.

If he improves on that showing he could be the answer to a tricky looking handicap hurdle.
