More snow and frost as winter grips the country
Snow MET Eireann has updated its Status Yellow weather warning with more snow and “severe frost” expected today.
The country has been hit with wintry weather for the past week.
But temperatures are set to get milder in the coming days as the frost turns into spells of rain.
A forecaster said: “Cool and bright on Monday with sunny spells and scattered rain or hail showers, mostly in the south-west and north-west.
BLUSTERY
“Windy in the morning with strong and blustery north-west winds, dropping off through the day and afternoon temperatures of 5C to 8C.
“Frost for a time on Monday night but wet and windy weather will spread eastwards overnight.
“Wet and windy for much of Tuesday, with persistent rain in strong southerly winds. The rain will clear later in the day.
“Afternoon temperatures of nine to 12C. Frost likely overnight with some showers.”
People in the North can also expect showers.
It will be cloudy tonight in all areas with outbreaks of rain pushing eastwards.
Much of the showers will be heavy, especially in the west.
