Governor is sorry for Ku Klux Klan pic
A US Governor has apologised after being identified in a photo depicting a racist scene.
Ralph Northam said the picture was not “who I am today” as he was seen in a school yearbook photo with an individual wearing a Ku Klux Klan suit.
The image came from a student publication in 1984, with the Democrat being aged around 25 at the time.
He said in a statement: “This behaviour is not in keeping with who I am today and the values I have fought for throughout my career in the military, in medicine and in public service.”
