Prince joked about being gay to chum

A YOUNG Prince Charles once joked about turning gay because he was so unimpressed with potential royal brides in Europe.

The revelation comes in a Channel 5 documentary on the love lives of the Queen’s four children.

A pal of Charles said they were discussing a newspaper story about who he might wed in the 1970s.

Charles quipped, “Shall I go gay?” and the pair roared with laughter.

The chum tells host Jeremy Paxman neither Charles nor Princess Anne were “shrinking violets”, adding: “They had a jolly good time... a lot of fun”.

The show also looks at Princes Andrew – dubbed Randy Andy – and Edward.

Two-parter Paxman on the Queen’s Children starts on Tuesday at 9pm.
