UK plea as America probes ‘Gulf War Syndrome in kids’

THE American Government is to probe new evidence that Gulf War Syndrome can be passed on to children.

And campaigner­s in the UK are calling for Parliament to follow suit.

Labour MPS Nia Griffith damaged DNA in some soldiers which could be passed on to their children. Now US experts say toxin exposure in the 1990-91 Iraq War caused reproducti­on problems and illness in veterans – leading to low birth weight, autism and even cancer in their offspring. Labour’s Nia Griffith said: “I urge ministers to consider new evidence carefully.” Lib Dem peer Lord Tyler said failure to address the issue was “a betrayal of armed forces”.
