Hibs out for Heck of a boss
PAUL HECKINGBOTTOM has emerged as a leading candidate to replace Neil Lennon as Hibs boss.
The 41-year-old former Leeds United manager is on the Easter Road club’s radar after Lennon left in controversial circumstances last week.
The Hibs hierarchy have been impressed with Heckingbottom’s CV and credentials – and there has already been contact between the club and his representatives.
The Englishman carved out a fantastic reputation as Barnsley manager in a three-year stint with the Tykes.
Heckingbottom is renowned for nurturing young talent and brought through the likes of Alfie Mawson at Oakwell, who was sold to Swansea City for £15million.
He was lured to Elland Road in February 2018 but was given just four months in charge before Leeds appointed Marcelo Bielsa as his replacement.
Heckingbottom is keen on the Hibs job and is under consideration from chairman Rod Petrie and chief executive Leanne Dempster as they look for Lennon’s successor.
Hibs lost 2-1 to Aberdeen at Easter Road yesterday despite taking a ninth minute lead through Oli Shaw.
Andrew Considine headed an equaliser three minutes later and Gary Mackay-steven hit the winner.
