Messi at double for Barca

-

LIONEL MESSI dragged Barcelona back from two goals down by scoring twice to snatch a 2-2 draw at home to Valencia.

Valencia went ahead in the 24th minute with a finish from Kevin Gameiro and doubled their lead with a penalty from Dani Parejo.

Messi halved the deficit seven minutes later, converting from the spot.

And Barca’s captain equalised in the 64th minute with a strike from outside the area.

Ernesto Valverde’s side are six points ahead of nearest challengers Atletico Madrid, who visit Real Betis today, and 11 clear of third-placed Real Madrid, who host Alaves.

Bayern Munich’s sevenmatch, winning run in the Bundesliga came to an end as they slumped 3-1 to Bayer Leverkusen.

Leverkusen came from behind after a Leon Goretzka goal had put Bayern ahead.

Leon Bailey fired in the equaliser with a stunning free-kick. Leverkusen took the lead through Kevin Volland, before Lucas Alario’s late goal was ruled onside by VAR. Dortmund’s 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt took their lead at the top to seven points.
