GUNNERS TO GO ON THE ATTACK

- BY HARRY PRATT

UNAI EMERY has promised Arsenal will adopt a typically positive approach at Manchester City – rather than aim for a smash-and-grab win. Despite evidence this season suggesting the latter is the best way to unhinge Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions, the Gunners boss is in no mood to employ it today. Emery (left) said: “When a lot of teams play with a very deep block against City, it’s because they need to play like that to have a chance to win.

“Usually, you can play 10 matches against Man City – and you can lose 10 times playing safe. This style can work for you if you are Newcastle or Palace.

“But, for us, it is about trying to impose our own style on City.”

Emery, though, is not stupid enough to think the Gunners will dominate over 90 minutes, and added: “Sometimes, you need adaptation.”
