Thank Evans for Ched

Fleetwood 1 Charlton 0

JOEY BARTON is relieved to still have Ched Evans as a Fleetwood player. The on-loan striker came close to a deadline-day move to Bolton from parent club Sheffield United.

But he put that behind him by scoring the only goal of the game for Fleetwood.

Boss Barton said: “The great thing for us is that we have Ched for the end of the season.

“I think he is going to score lots of goals for us as he has proven in this game.

“We just want to put it behind us.

“Having Ched Evans in our team makes us a better team and having him in our dressing room makes it a better dressing room.

“He would have been a big loss.” On the other hand, Charlton boss Lee Bowyer was frustrated with the defeat.

“We just were not there today,” he said.

“I cannot put my finger on what went wrong.

“It is so frustrating. It is three points dropped.

“I’m disappointed and you don’t see me like this often.

“I’m not going to go mad, I did not go mad, because I know it hurts the players as much as it hurts me. It just disappoints me.”
