Peterborough 0 Plymouth 1

-

DARREN FERGUSON described Ruben Lameiras’ late winner for Plymouth as a “hammer blow”.

Lameiras (below) struck on 88 minutes as the Peterborough manager’s first home game in charge of his third spell with the club ended in heartbreak.

His side’s resistance was broken by a long-range effort after they had played with 10 men since Lee Tomlin’s dismissal in first-half stoppage time.

“I said at halftime, ‘if you get through the first 20 minutes of the half the fans will drag us on’ and they did. “Bit was a bit of a hammer blow to lose that goal,” said Ferguson. Tomlin’s second booking came when Ryan Edwards went to ground. Ferguson added: “The defender has gone down like he’s been hit by a hammer.” Plymouth manager Derek Adams said: “He was probably lucky it wasn’t a straight sending off. He had to go. It was petulant and the correct decision was made.”
