Irish step up global war on fatal diseases
Minister Zappone THE Government will help fight diseases worldwide after increasing funding by up to 50%.
Children’s Minister Katherine Zappone has announced the State’s renewed commitment to the Global Fund.
She spoke at an African Leadership Meeting in Ethiopia, where she highlighted the importance of continuing research into killer illnesses.
She said: “Ireland’s work on global health and on ending communicable diseases – Aids, TB and malaria – reflects our deep understanding from our own experience that poverty and poor health are closely linked.
“This is unacceptable when we know how to prevent these diseases.”
