Jet abandons landing over ‘runway man’

An easyjet plane A HOLIDAY jet aborted its landing at the last minute yesterday after a man was spotted by the runway.

Passengers on the easyjet flight from London Gatwick to Malaga told how it pulled up sharply.

Among them was Mirror man Tony Donnelly.

The 61-year-old, of South Norwood, London, said: “Everybody froze. I thought there must be a problem with the plane and this was the end.

“Then the pilot said, ‘There was a man running across the runway’.”

Easyjet said: “While such incidents are rare we take them very seriously.”

Malaga Airport added: “There was nobody on the runway itself. This person came from Malaga Air Base, that shares a part of the apron with Malaga Airport.” Old favourite
