€9million a day to look a million dollars..

Irish women and men splash the cash on beauty products

-

“They might not have hours for beauty treatments at weekends or after a long day at work.

“So, they are using their time to the best of their advantage – and coming in at lunchtime.

“This last happened during the Celtic Tiger days but then the recession hit everyone.

“With the country back on its feet, there is a feelgood factor again. And Irish women are leading the charge.

“And they want the best service available.

“Up until recently, many were happy to have their nails and waxing done.

“Women of all ages love pampering themselves for every occasion but now waxing is being replaced by laser because it is long lasting.

“It doesn’t just reduce the hair but significantly reduces future hair growth.”

And it’s not just Irish women who love getting laser treatments.

Celebs such as Kim Kardashian are big fans of hair removal by laser.

Angela, a qualified beauty teacher with 14 diplomas, said laser treatment is a huge hit with women of all ages.

She added: “It usually takes just around 10 minutes for a session. The maximum would be 30 minutes.”

Laser treatments are cost effective with starting prices from as little as €25.

Angela uses top-of-the-range machine IPL Pulsar – there are only a few Irish salons with similar hi-tech equipment.

The laser focuses on the root of the hair, causing a reduction in follicle Angela Mongan growth and regrowth. Angela added: “Laser has been used in salons for about 15 years but with technology advances, it can be performed in a much shorter time period and is much longer lasting. It is simply more effective these days and it is for these reasons that it appeals to women with busy lives. “Women can now fit their beauty treatments without impacting on their busy working days. “And, in fact, they go back to work feeling much better about themselves.” But it’s not just women who are getting lasered at lunchtime. Men, too, are booking appointments. David Beckham, with his sleek well-groomed Abbey Beauty and Laser Clinic in Co Kildare offers a top range of services style, has always gone for the hair-free chest – a look which more and more Irish men are adopting.

Angela said: “Times have changed. Irish men are more image conscious these days and are not afraid to come for a laser treatment.

“Like women, they get different areas lasered – it could be their underarms, chest, or back.

“They want their bodies to look good on the beach in summer – and all year round.”

The clinic also specialises in a range of services from nails, eyelashes, spray tans, facials and anti-ageing treatments.

Abbey Beauty and Laser Clinic is on Dublin Road, Celbridge, Co Kildare. Tel 01 – 601 2756 and is open from 10am Mon-sat. The clinic is on Facebook.
