Star Ryan Ernes two big points

Fermanagh 0-8 Kildare 0-6 Allianz NFL Division 2

TWO late points from wing forward Ryan Lyons gave Fermanagh two precious points in a tempestuous affair against promotion favourites Kildare in Brewster Park last night.

Lyons struck in the 65th and 73rd minutes to give the hosts a deserved win.

But the victors also hit 11 wides and would surely have been kicking themselves had they lost.

The Ernemen combined mass defence with swift counter-attack against an off colour Kildare side who could only manage one point from play all night.

The Lilywhites were quite happy to go in just two behind as the wasteful home side led by 0-5 to 0-3.

Neil Flynn got his side’s first score in 30 minutes from a pointed free in the 37th minute to leave just a point between them.

Sean Quigley stretched the lead but it was cancelled by a Flynn free as the home side led by 0-6 to 0-5.

Fergal Conway levelled matters but Fermanagh spurned a great chance of a goal when 19-year-old Ultan Kelm found himself one on one with Kildare keeper Mark Donnellan, but the keeper made a brilliant block in the 53rd minute.
