LEEDS ARE GOING UP!

Mcqueen backs Bielsa for automatic spot

big miss because he’s their mainstay at the back.

“And it would be devastating if they missed out – but that’s the way it is for all the other clubs. There are some big clubs up there, and Leeds are the biggest of them all.

“I was at the home game against Stoke at the start of the season and it was the crowd who won the game for them – they’re unbelievable.’’

Mcqueen feels too much was made of the ‘Spygate’ saga, which saw Leeds being fined £200,000 as Bielsa admitted his staff secretly spied on opponents’ training sessions.

Mcqueen, 66, said: “I don’t know Bielsa at all, so I can’t say too much about him, but you know all your opponents in the division anyway.’’

And from what he’s seen himself, Mcqueen fears for the promotion hopes of another club he served.

Middlesbrough, where he was a member of Bryan Robson’s backroom staff, are in fifth place, but only a point clear of seventh after a 3-0 defeat at top-six rivals Aston Villa.

Mcqueen, who still lives near Middlesbrough and regularly attends the Riverside, is worried for Tony Pulis’s side, who had been chasing a top-two finish for much of the campaign.

Mcqueen said: “I go to all their home games. That’s three defeats in a row. It’ll be a struggle for Boro now to stay in the top six.’’
