Game changer

Wait finally over as GOT makes dramatic return to our screens

-

Ben Mitchell was never top of anyone’s Christmas card list but he’s surpassed himself in the Mr Nasty stakes on his return to Walford. Whatever smidgeon of familial loyalty the Eastenders character had left seems to have disappeared in the same way his facial features have been transformed, for the umpteenth time. Ben is determined to fleece dad Phil and leave him bankrupt – but is Lola really going to go along with his evil plan? He is plotting to leave dad Phil penniless fight the White Walkers and if Bran will be revealed as the Night King?

Then there are the tales of redemption – Jaime Lannister turning his back on Cersei after a lifetime of devotion, Sansa Stark reaffirming her family loyalty and Jorah Mormont atoning for past misdemeanours. Not to mention the story of unrequited love. Will Brienne of Tarth and Jaime, whose complex relationship has captivated viewers, finally declare their feelings?

And will we get the final showdown between the Clegane brothers?

If unleashed, the sibling rivalry between the Hound and the Mountain (now a zombie) could deliver one of the most epic battle scenes in the show’s history.

It’s hard to top the Battle Of The Bastards and as baddies go it’s even harder to outdo Ramsay Bolton. And all three met a fitting end. Rhaegar’s head was boiled by a crown of melting gold, Tywin was speared with a crossbow as he sat on the toilet and Ramsay was fed to his own blood-thirsty hounds.

Here’s hoping Queen Cersei too gets her just desserts – at the hand of Arya Stark – in the same way the real hero of the show, Tyrion Lannister, deserves to get his. One thing is for sure, there will be some sort of spin-off and possibly even a prequel to the HBO hit based on the novels by George RR Martin.

This means a few of our favourite characters could make a return – including Eddard Stark (Sean Bean), Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) and Khal Drogo ( Jason Momoa).

For favourites who are still standing, you can follow their fate on Sky Atlantic tomorrow at 2am, and again at 9pm, and on NOW TV.
