Evil George Arundel walked free from Arbour Hill Prison in Dublin last week.

The predator, originally from Mayfield in Cork, is believed to be back in the city and could be living in a halfway house.

DANGEROUS

A source said: “This guy is dangerous and his past records prove it.”

The 32-year-old was handed a 10-year sentence by Justice Paul Carney on June 8, 2012 after being found guilty of rape and false imprisonment at Tinker’s Field, Tinker’s Cross, Cork city, on May 23, 2011.

In January 2015, the Court of Appeal dismissed his application to set aside his conviction on grounds that the jury’s

He successfully dodges bottle verdict was against the weight of evidence.

The court heard at the time the victim had gone to an off-licence to purchase cigarettes and alcohol.

After emerging from the shop she was approached from behind by a man who said: “You’re keeping me company tonight”.

She was then grabbed and dragged to a nearby field where she was forced

Arbour Hill in Dublin to sit on the ground. Despite making repeated attempts to escape she was overpowered each time.

Arundel attempted to rape the woman but her legs were crossed so he then forced her to perform a sex act on him.

The appeal court heard also that at a subsequent medical examination at the sexual assault unit of the South Infirmary, the woman had a significant number of bruises and DNA was found on her which matched that taken from Arundel’s blood.

Meanwhile, while locked-up, Arundel admitted threatening to kill or cause serious harm to a female warder at the Midlands Prison in December 2015.

During the court case in 2017, Det Gda Padraic Ryan told Portlaoise District Court it had a devastating impact on her.

SHAME

He said: “As a prison officer she is aware of the accused’s history.”

He told Judge John King the threat had been taken extremely serious.

Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick said at the time the offence was “a cause of huge shame to him now” and she said Arundel “wishes to extend his sincerest apologies” to the prison officer.
