Galway is way to go

Make a resolution to visit friendliest city

-

I’m not a big fan of heading into 2020 and making promises to yourself to ditch the chocolate, chips and chardonnay.

It’s as foolish as vowing to go out jogging or hit the gym in the cold and dark mornings and evenings.

You might be wondering if my timing is off but if Brown Thomas can open their Christmas shop in August then why can’t I talk new year before Halloween?

This year I am going to throw an open invitation to everyone to come join the Tribesmen and women during 2020 and advise you all to put it top of your resolutions list.

Galway was up against stiff opposition when

CULTURED Galway truly is a must-see it emerged top of the Lonely Planet Best in Travel guide as “one of the world’s top cities for travellers in 2020”.

This came as no surprise to me, but I can hear you muttering, “as a local you would say that wouldn’t you?”

Trust me when I tell you that Galway will captivate and charm you like nowhere else.

While it is officially a city, it feels more like a big town, friendly and compact, you can walk everywhere.

Wander the cobbled streets and choose from so many top class pubs, restaurants and shops.

The Christmas markets that will kick off in a couple of weeks are a wonder to behold. There will be an impressive list of events to choose from during our European Capital of Culture and Lonely Planet award celebrations, not that you need any excuse to come calling!

‘ I am going to throw an open invitation to everyone to join the Tribesmen & women

I was in the studio with Craughwell’s Lisa Callanan recording Glor Tire on TG4 this week. We sang a duet and it will air on screen after Christmas. The show will run over eight weeks and I can’t wait for fans to see it – it’s like Pop Idol for country music stars.
