REIDY 11-SENT FOR LIMERICK

- DECLAN ROONEY

Limerick 1-32 Cork 0-20 three points in a row as Seamus Harnedy began to influence the game but Limerick led by five as half-time approached. However, Chris O’leary’s second long-range free meant Cork only trailed 1-14 to 0-14 at the break.

The Rebels kept pace with their hosts for five minutes after the break as Lehane and Aidan Walsh hit points.

But Reidy hit a burst of three unanswered scores, Byrnes added a super point from the right and Darragh O’donovan also got in on the act as Limerick ran out easy winners.

LIMERICK claimed their second Co-op Superstore Munster Hurling League crown in three years with David Reidy’s 11 points at the heart of their victory over Cork.

Aaron Gillane’s first half goal and five points each from Graeme Mulcahy and David Dempsey were also vital in their resounding win.

Limerick were very sluggish in the early stages at the Gaelic Grounds and, after David Dempsey’s first minute point, the next five were scored by Cork as Conor Lehane and Sean Twomey landed some lovely efforts for the Rebels.

Points from Dempsey and Cian Lynch settled Limerick while Gillane’s goal put the Treaty in front.
