CROWD TURN ON OWNERS

- BY STEVE BATES at OLD TRAFFORD

THE Glazer family and Ed Woodward were backed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the Old Trafford crowd turned on the Manchester United hierarchy.

Despite United romping to a 4-0 win over bottom-of-thetable Norwich, hardline fans in the Stretford End began chanting anti-glazer and Woodward songs.

Solskjaer claimed later he was not sure if his players heard the attacks on the American owners (right) who took over in 2003.

But the Norwegian admitted he picked it up before teenage striker Mason Greenwood scored United’s final goal.

However, in a clear sign of support for the club’s Tampa-based owners and executive vice-chairman Woodward, Solskjaer insisted all factions of the club must stick together. “I’m not sure if the players will get it, but I noticed, yeah. And, as a club, we’ve got to stick together, we’ve got to be united, we are a family,” said the United boss.

“I can only say from when I’ve been here I’ve been backed by the owners. I’ve been backed by Ed and they’re supporting me, so for me, let’s make sure we stick together.

“We are in all competitions. We are still in the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup, we’re fifth in the league and still challenging. “We’ve improved the position from last season. We’ve got the Europa League and the fans have just got to believe me when I say I feel we are doing good things behind the scenes.

“We are going in the right direction. And when you see the group today – the attitude and work-rate, that’s the core going forward.”
