But the couple clashed as they set about transforming a pile of ruins in the Algarve into a hotel and weight loss retreat.

added: “I’m so in love with this place. It has been totally damaged and vandalised.
“People will think we are crazy but I can see the charm. I hope we have done the right thing.”
Cameras followed the couple during the project for a three-part fly-on-thewall series on RTE.
