Glenda calls time on the booze for dry January

- EXCLUSIVE BY MIKIE O’LOUGHLIN

DANCING With The Stars hopeful Glenda Gilson has ditched the booze for dry January. The TV host, who is married to businessman Rob Macnaughton, is focused on balancing work and family life and she won’t be drinking except for one post-show beverage. She told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “Rob will ask if we can go for dinner and I will be like, ‘Yeah, but I am having sparkling water’. “It is January and we are taking it easy. “I have stopped drinking for the most part but I grabbed a bottle of Heineken and downed it after the show finished last week and enjoyed it. “I am only having one drink on a Sunday at about 8.30pm or 8.45pm, just to help me breathe again after coming off air. I would like to say it is making a difference because I have a clearer head.”

The 38-year-old, inset, is on air every morning with Ireland AM and then is straight into studio with her pro partner Robert Rowinski. But her busy schedule and tiredness every evening hasn’t hampered her sex life.

She said: “No, it hasn’t affected that and that is all I will say.”

Glenda’s main gig Xpose was axed by Virgin Media Television while she was on maternity leave.

While she was sad to see the show go, she always knew she would be given a prominent role when she returned to work.

She added: “I kind of knew what the story was and knew I was going to have a place on Ireland AM.

“Xpose is done and dusted, it is over and obviously that upset me.

“But I am delighted to be doing the same thing and I love entertainment and showbiz and am bringing a bit of Xpose to Ireland AM.”
