Tragedy struck a few years ago when her son Hugh took his own life, but MJ says the hardest part for her is when people don’t want to talk about him as she wants to keep his memory alive.

The outgoing gran says she hasn’t given up on love and is determined to keep searching for that someone special.

She added: “Love is totally necessary for life, nothing happens in this world without love.

“It’s very difficult when you’re older. I can tell you first-hand because older men forget they have gotten old and all they see is the older woman and she’s not quite what they had in mind.

“Older men are still interested in a bit of eye candy, and I don’t fit that bill. I’m blown away by some of the things they say and I’m tempted to ask, ‘When did you last look in the mirror?’

“What I’d love is to have somebody to share my days with and to tell my stories to and go travelling with.”
