Mary on Dancing With The Stars shaking hands and giving hugs and kisses. I feel sorry for the elderly, as they’re in the high-risk category and it must be a worrying time since so many of them live alone.

I escaped any major worry flying home from my cruise in Mexico last week since my connecting flight was in San Francisco and then I was direct to Dublin. Thankfully, I avoided New York’s JFK and London Heathrow. The East coast of America as well as mainland Europe and Asia are worst affected with some parts even in complete lockdown.

There is no such thing as a good time to be without a government but this is the worst time of all to be lacking in leadership. With the threat of postponing public gatherings, it’s wreckless to be even talking about another election so it’s about time that our representatives acted responsibly and came together for the greater good.

The country needs strong leadership at this moment so it’s time to stop playing games and form a government.

The public won’t thank politicians for dragging things out.

I’m no expert but did anyone ever think of a national government formed on the basis of the percentage vote received by all the parties and working for the good of the country?

Kate Middleton and Prince William met young GAA stars in Galway so let’s hope it will be a good luck charm for our senior hurlers and footballers for the year ahead. Kate was impressive with the hurley and I’m sure Hopper Mcgrath would consider her for Sarsfields camogie club after they took home the AIB All-ireland Senior Club Championship with his daughters on the team last month. 2019 was not the best year for the men’s senior team, so maybe the Kate factor will change our luck. Having Kate and William on tour was a great boost and it couldn’t have come at a more welcome time.

The postman in Portumna has been very busy lately ahead of our arrival in a couple of weeks. We have been getting shawls, booties, blankets, toys and clothes, loads of different bits and pieces from fans. We are surprised and very grateful by the level of generosity and kindness directed towards our little family.

With wife & mum-to-be Liz
