As Ireland’s leader, he is working harder than ever at this challengin­g time and now is managing to squeeze in some extra hours to go back to looking after people medically.

Irish citizens have travelled back from Australia, Canada, America and the Middle East to help out during this terrible pandemic so it is very assuring

The Late Late Show’s country music special won’t be going ahead this year – after four fantastic years – but it is a minor casualty with all that’s happening in the world right now.

I have no doubt it will be back because it’s a highlyanti­cipated date in the calendar with a massive audience – almost one million people regularly tune in each spring.

Ryan Tubridy has been fantastic at promoting country music on the big stage since he took over from Pat Kenny 12 years ago. He has championed to see Leo practising what he is preaching.

American TV presenter Jimmy Kimmell lauded him for the move, which is getting worldwide attention.

Very often leaders practise the “do as I say not as I do” philosophy but Leo is not asking of anyone what he is not prepared to do.

No matter what side you are on or which political party you shout for, you can’t deny everyone is giving it 100% to make the Covid-19 crisis come to an end as quickly as possible.

Corona kindness can be seen across the country with a coming together of people like never before. It was marked by the applause for our frontline medical workers and also with President Michael D Higgins requesting people to join him in placing a light in their windows last night.

I’m really delighted to see that he is feeling better again after his brush with the dreaded coronaviru­s.

festivals won’t go ahead. Maybe as the summer goes on we might get back to regular gigs.

It’s hard for anybody who is out of work in any industry – whether retail, hospitalit­y, travel or whatever – because we don’t know what the future holds yet.

But if everyone pulls together, stays at home and socially distances, hopefully the country will be up and running again by summer time.
